Accountability:

You may recall a previous post where I told you all about the changes that were happening and why I felt the need to do it now. But sometimes things are easier said than done unless there is some sort of accountability or end goal in mind. So it was very timely that for the past couple of weeks I’ve seen Swindon Open Studios promoting this years event and having call outs for artists, there was also one for a meeting, which was held last week, for interested parties to find out more and ask questions. Off I went with an open mind and a little trepidation!

What I heard at the meeting was very positive and very encouraging from the committee members that were in attendance and the lovely Steve, who was a first timer last year and shared his experience with great enthusiasm. After a brief discussion with John and feeling very buoyant about it all, I SIGNED UP. There, I’ve said it out loud, there’s no going back and changing my mind now!

What is Swindon Open Studios you might ask? In their own words, “It’s an annual community exhibition during which artists invite members of the public into their studios, homes and exhibition spaces for a chance to see where and how their art is made during two consecutive weekends with a chance to buy original, affordable art.” I have been following them for a little while and was contemplating signing up in 2020 but we all know how that went!

Believe it or not, I’ve made a little start already. I’ve had a brain dump and made a list of all the things I think I need to do before the event and put it all into my little accountability friend, “ClickUp”. I’ve already made a start on a social media/blog plan so apologies in advance if I get too much. Plus we’re on holiday in June so having my list already done will give me plenty to get on with when we return.

So dates in the diaries please Ladies and Gents: 16th & 17th and 23rd & 24th September from 11am to 5pm. I will be exhibiting at The Barn, Stanton Park, The Avenue, Stanton Fitzwarren, SN6 7SF.

If you think you  might be interested, applications are open until 31st May.
