Just a few little jobs to keep you busy in June:

Lift and divide: clumps of spring flowering bulbs, hostas and primroses. Plant them in a nursery bed until they are ready to plant out in the autumn.

Keep a watch for pests such as aphids, lily beetles, slugs and snails, and vine weevil as they can do serious damage to your plants, especially those in pots.

Hoe the borders to keep them free from annual and perennial weeds, hoeing helps prevent them from spreading and going to seed.

The dangers of frost have disappeared in most areas so its now safe to put out summer bedding plants. Water them in well and water regularly during dry spells.

If you have a greenhouse put up some netting or paint the glass white to keep the greenhouse cool and prevent leave from scorching in the hot sun.
