Inspiration, Ramblings, Resources, & Tutorials

You name it – it’s all here!

March turned into another busy month with lots still going on with SOS. Registration has now finished and all that remains is to upload the last 20+ artists and chase for images etc but we’re getting there!

There was also the added bonus of an extra Sunday so this month I have 5 images for you.

March 2026

Journey to the Unknown

I love textures and loved putting this image together, I particularly love the plaster face overlooking the woman as embarks on her journey. This image been created with 3 textured layered background and an element of a lady.

Wait for Us

At the start of March 2026 the Hindu festival of Holi is celebrated to mark the start of spring, a season of hope and new beginnings. Colour plays a powerful role in Holi, symbolizing joy, renewal, and the arrival of spring. As vibrant powders are shared, social boundaries fade, representing unity, equality, and the belief that everyone is the same beneath the colour. The celebration becomes a reminder of connection, forgiveness, and fresh beginnings. “Wait For Us” shows 3 young children running down an alley chasing after their mother on their way home from their Holi celebrations.

Quietly Observing

Staying with colour, the inspiration for this image comes from Gustav Klimt and his use of gold and vibrant colours. I have called it “Quietly Observing”. It’s been created with 6 layers and 3 different backgounds merged and blended together.

Seeking Guidance

In stark contrast to the 3 previous images, “Seeking Guidance” is very lacking in colour, mainly black & white with the odd hint of a dark gry/blue and subtle muddy brown. It depicts a kneeling lady seeking spiritual guidance. It was created using 2 elements, 2 blended backgrounds and a brush to create the abstract face.

Lady of the Sea

And finally, the bonus image for March, was a relatively simple one. “Lady of the Sea” has been created using 1 main element, the lady in the shell, and 4 backgrounds merged and blended together to create the illusion of the seabed and gentle waves with floating shells passing by.

An enjoyable and creative month with some pleasing results.
